Weight Loss through Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy

You won’t be made to cluck like a chicken, but I can help you lose weight easily with hypnosis.

Weight loss hypnosis is safe and natural.

You may have heard or seen some some pretty strange things with hypnosis. (And some pretty strange hypnotherapists too, let’s be honest!) Despite ridiculous things you may have seen on stage hypnosis shows, clinical hypnotherapy is actually very safe, and you can never be made to do anything that you don’t want to do. Hypnosis has been proven in scientific studies to be one of the best ways to help yourself to lose weight more easily than you ever thought. ( Check out the studies below)

Weight loss hypnosis is safe and natural.

The funny thing about hypnosis that most people don’t know is that it is totally natural. Hypnosis is just one way of creating a relaxed focus, known as trance. Some other ways you could go into trance are meditation,  yoga or focussed breathing.

Trance is a very natural state and super easy to go into. Each day you might go into trance many times. Just like that feeling you get when you lose yourself in a good movie or book, or if you are driving somewhere and you get there without being consciously aware of driving. That is trance. You might even be in a light trance now, just reading these words, and following these ideas over the page. Trance is a wonderful state because it allows your conscious and your unconscious minds to work together better. You are relaxed and in that feeling of easy flow.

In hypnosis, you are always in charge.

The funny thing that you may not realise is that all hypnosis is self hypnosis. That means that when you are getting hypnotised, it is your choice to follow the instructions of the hypnotist telling you to relax. No-one can make you do anything you don’t want to do. (those people who do cluck like chickens in those shows are the type of people who would do that anyway if they were a bit drunk.)

Who relaxes your muscles and lets you fall asleep? You do, when you decide to. The hypnotherapist only coaxes that feeling out of you with certain words, phrases, suggestions and relaxing tone of voice. This is good news because it means that you are always safe and you are always in control.

What most people don’t realise about hypnosis is that during a session you are nearly always consciously aware of what is going on, you just have a very pleasant feeling of relaxation.

During hypnosis, or any form of alternative therapy, the goal is always for the client to find their own learnings or inner wisdom, so that they can begin to trust themselves more and can realise that they have all the resources they need to succeed. Hypnotherapy helps this process to occur easily because it stops your own conscious chitter chatter getting in the way and allows the you to trust in your own inner wisdom. This can help to release old emotions, fears or negative beliefs. The changes that are made during hypnosis are lasting because it goes to the deepest level of the mind.

Did you know you can double your weight loss results with hypnosis?

Hypnosis can help you to let go of old habits and problems easily. It has been proven in clinical studies to improve weight loss results dramatically (double in some cases) compared to a control group. The group using hypnosis slimmed down almost double the control group. To access the benefits of hypnosis, you can utilise the services of a trained professional hypnotherapist, or you can listen to hypnosis meditation CD’s or you can practice self- hypnosis by reading a hypnotic induction or repeating affirmations to yourself.

Hypnosis is most useful when it is used repeatedly over time to embed and reinforce the positive messages in the unconscious mind.

Clinical Studies Prove the Effectiveness of Hypnosis To Dramatically Improve Weight Loss Results

Weight Loss through Hypnosis is over 30 Times as Effective as Control Group

A study investigated the effects of hypnosis on weight loss in 60 female participants, who were at least 20% overweight. Hypnosis was generally more effective than the control group: i.e. 17 lbs on average weight loss by the hypnosis group vs. an 0.5 lbs weightloss by the control group, on follow-up.

Hypnosis Subjects Continued To show Significant Weight Loss Two Years Later:

A study involving 109 people completed a 9-week behavioral treatment program for weight management either with or without the addition of hypnosis. Both interventions resulted in significant weight reduction. A follow up at 8-month and 2-year showed that the hypnosis subjects continued to lose significant weight, while those in the behavioral-treatment-only program showed little further change.

Hypnosis Subjects Lose More Weight and Keep it Off

18 studies involving weight loss were analyzed by researchers in which they compared cognitive behavioral therapy involving relaxation training, guided imagery, self monitoring, or goal setting with the same therapy using hypnosis.

Results showed that those who received hypnosis lost more weight than 90 percent of those not receiving hypnosis. Furthermore, those receiving hypnosis maintained their weight loss two years after treatment ended.

Double the Average Weight Loss through Hypnosis

A study into the effect of adding hypnosis to cognitive-behavioral treatments for weight reduction was conducted. The consequent analysis indicated that the benefits of hypnosis in losing weight increased substantially over time.

Significantly Lower Post-Treatment Weights with Hypnosis

Smoking and non-smoking overweight adult women were compared in a weight-loss program using hypnosis and multi-component treatments with and without overt aversion. Significant weight loss and decreases in BMI were achieved. A follow-up study found significant weight losses and declines in BMI. The program using overt aversion and hypnosis achieved significantly lower post-treatment weights and a greater average weight loss.

Hypnotherapy in conjunction with stress reduction yielded significantly more weight loss than dietary advice alone.

A study involving 60 obese patients with obstructive sleep apnea on nasal continuous positive airway pressure treatment using two forms of hypnotherapy (one being directed at stress reduction the other at energy intake reduction), versus dietary advice alone in 60 obese patients showed hypnotherapy to be more effective than dietary advice alone.

Traditional weight loss approaches can be more than doubled through the use of Hypnosis

Five weight loss studies were analyzed which showed that hypnosis can more than double the effects of weight loss compared to traditional weight loss approaches.

Weight loss is greater where hypnosis is utilized

A study into cognitive-behavioral weight loss treatments showed that that weight loss is greater where hypnosis is used. It also showed that the effects of hypnosis increase over time.
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology (1996)

Study shows that hypnosis is an effective way of achieving weight loss

A study involving 60 females who were on average about 20% overweight and who did not receive other treatment showed hypnosis to be an effective way to lose weight.

Powerful Questions or The Power of Questions.

Questions, when they are stated we react so differently to them, don’t we? Some will respond without even thinking about the question. The automatic ‘Good Thank you’ in response to ‘How are you?’. Sometimes the question doesn’t even have to be asked, does it? Haven’t you had this happen to yourself, you greet someone and they reply with ‘Good Thank you’ because they’ve pre-empted the question of ‘How are you?’ as part of your greeting. Then we have those who will get defensive when you ask them questions, they feel questioned. Is that pun intended? Others again will think about your question and respond appropriately, well as appropriately as they think is appropriate.

Consider how differently the question “How can this be done” is processed. For one it will mean “what is required to do this?”, for another it means “this is impossible”.

Questions, the key to science. The key to development. The key to discovery. The key to our mind?

He who asks a question is a fool for five minutes; he who does not ask a question remains a fool forever. So goes a Chinese Proverb.

It really is no secret that questions are what have driven people to discover, develop and achieve. Remember the How’s and Why’s kids ask, didn’t we ask them, and some go on continue asking questions all their life. Newton’s “Why does the apple fall from the tree?”, a great example of what went on to discover some of our basic laws of physics. I’m sure you can think of many more examples, right?

“The important thing is to not stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.” Albert Einstein

Questions are a basic principle of coaching and successfully applied by many forms of therapy.

It’s quite amazing what happens when we hear and process a question. Let me demonstrate this to you and we’ll have a little bit of fun with this if that’s ok. What I will ask you to do is stop and think about each of the following questions. The more thoroughly you read this the more fun you will have with it.

How do you fit a pink elephant in a refrigerator? Did you read the question correctly? Here it is again just in case you missed some important information, how do you fit a pink elephant in a refrigerator?

Where you thinking of a pink elephant before you read this question? Ok maybe you are in a room with pink elephants on the wall or at a toy store with pink elephants for sale, then you are the exception as you were thinking about pink elephants before you read this question. But, are you still thinking of pink elephants? Yes you are, no matter what else is happening around you, you are still thinking of pink elephants. Aren’t you? Maybe you are now thinking what type of pink elephant or maybe saying to yourself pink elephants don’t exist, they can’t exist. However in your mind you are getting a clearer and clearer image of a pink elephant, every time you read pink elephant that image of that pink elephant becomes more established. Are you also sensing the change in air around that pink elephant, hearing the sounds that come with that pink elephant, maybe even the smell? Eventually all of your senses will be aware of that pink elephant. In a moment now you will have a new memory about that pink elephant. You will be able to recall that pink elephant as if it were a real experience, as if you had seen that pink elephant, maybe even touched that pink elephant.

Can you still remember the rest of the question? Ah, you had to stop and think about that, maybe just for a 0.000000001 of a second, or even went back and reread the question, but you did, didn’t you?

Now let’ see how long it takes you to forget about that pink elephant.

In a fun way you have just let your mind experience the power behind processing a question and the amazing ability to build an image just from words. Combining the right questions with Hypno Coaching we can build new habits, unlearn undesirable triggers, master goals and achieve the life you deserve.
